How to Be the Best Version of Yourself

We’re all capable of great things, but are you achieving everything you’re capable of? Do you know how to be the best version of yourself?

There are some powerful habits that you can make a part of your life to improve your behaviors and become the kind of person you want to be. If you are wondering how to be the best version of yourself, then there are likely certain aspects of your character that you would like to change. To change those characteristics, you need to develop new and better habits.

As you develop habits, you will change your character and the way you react in situations and how you take action. What you do from day to day and what you do when no one else is around will all change if you can force yourself to adopt new habits.

Be More Confident

How to be more confident in yourself? There are steps that you can take to gain more self-confidence and to become more assertive, making decisions without as much deliberation and self-doubt.

This process usually starts by listing down what it is you want to do. These can be goals you have, like relationship goals, career goals, or self-improvement goals.

Once you’ve identified what you want to do, you now have to work towards that. In order to start accomplishing more and becoming more confident, you’ll have to put yourself out there a little bit.

You have to face your fears and get yourself out of your comfort zone. If you remember that your comfort zone is not your friend, you will quickly become more confident.

At all times, keep in mind that your comfort zone is holding you back. The places you go to in order to get away from it all, the people you hang out with who don’t challenge you and that you feel most comfortable with, and the kind of decisions you make a day by day that keep you feeling comfortable are all holding you back from feeling more confident.

You have to take those first steps toward how to be confident in yourself. Do things that make you uncomfortable, like speaking in public, speaking up for yourself, and doing something different.

Something as simple as wearing different clothes or ordering different food can help to build your self-confidence. These small actions can help you feel like you can do more than you are currently doing.

Be Kind to Yourself

If you find that you are very critical of yourself, you may be wondering how to not be so hard on yourself. Self-criticism can be important for growth, helping you identify areas that need to work, but if you’re overly critical, you will stop seeing the good things in yourself.

It is important to know how to be honest with yourself, and at the same time you have to understand how to be kind to yourself. In today’s society, we are constantly surrounded by things that can be very critical toward us without being honest, like unrealistic expectations for our fitness goals and our body.

We can constantly, if subconsciously, compare ourselves to very successful people or to photoshopped images, particularly if we follow celebrities or social media personalities.

So how to not be hard on yourself? It’s a good idea to cut out harmful influences, like following social media stars, celebrities and magazines. By doing that, you will stop seeing yourself in the mirror through the lens of the rest of the world and you will be able to start seeing yourself as you really are.

Another thing to know about how to be kind to yourself is to treat yourself every once in a while. If you are on a diet or strict exercise regimen, it can be tough to find those times to enjoy things that might not be very healthy for you.

It’s OK to take a break from the diet and the exercise every once in a while and reward yourself for a job well done. As long as you don’t slip into a constant routine of unhealthy snacks and a lack of exercise, it’s perfectly safe to take a break from the strict regimens that sometimes have too much control over our lives.

Be Happy on Your Own

With so many ways to connect with people nowadays, what do you do when you’re all alone? For some, that can be frightening, and the loneliness can feel overwhelming at times. Do you know how to be happy by yourself?

The reason many people fail to enjoy themselves when they’re on their own is because they have no hobbies. If you’re free time is taken up by scrolling through your phone or spending time in the computer, it will be difficult to enjoy yourself if the Internet is down, if the power goes out, or if your electronic devices are not entertaining you for some reason.

Even with all the connections we have through social media and that ability to talk to our friends and family at any time, you may struggle with how to be by yourself. There may be times where you realize that a lot of those connections are not authentic and that is not comforting to try to reach out to people electronically when you’d rather have someone there physically.

So, having a hobby can help. If you don’t have one that really interests you, there’s nothing wrong with trying to find a new hobby, whether it’s collecting, reading, engaging in sports, or doing something artistic.

Once you immerse yourself into a hobby, you’ll have that place of solace and comfort you can go to at any time when you’re not busy with other things. Instead of feeling lonely and cut off, you’ll feel like you have a chance to engage with your hobby.

Many hobbies can be very social, and getting into one can open up a lot of new avenues to meet new people and remove some of the loneliness from your life.

Be Proud of Yourself

This is different from self-confidence in that self-confidence is more about feeling you can do something whereas being proud of yourself is about feeling accomplished in what you’ve done. If you feel that you’ve done very little or that you’re not doing much with your life, you may not know how to be proud of yourself.

One of the best ways to start accomplishing more is to make a list of the things you want to do. Write down everything you want to get done, and not just in the next few years. I’m talking about things you want to accomplish over the next few days, the next few weeks, and the next few months.

Depending upon how long-term these goals are, you can plan to get one thing done each week or one thing done each day. You can start checking things off your list as you do them and start to feel accomplished about what you’ve done.

Some people will put list like these on their refrigerator or on their phone so they see them every day and are reminded of what they want to do as well as what they still have to do.

At the same time, you will start to see the list fill up with check marks as you accomplish things. What this does is build up your pride in yourself and you start to feel more accomplished. You can see what you’re getting done and be motivated to do more.

One way to ensure that you actually cross off things on that list is to tell someone about your goals. Tell them what you plan to do and even be specific about what you planned to get done that week or that day.

This is called accountability, and by telling someone else about the goals you made for yourself, you are more likely to do them.
